If my parents had brough me to Akihabara when I was a little kid, they would’ve lost their life savings. Ever seen university, I have stopped my craze for anime and manga. This place has everything that an otaku can dream of buying – from figures to manga to cosplays to toys.

We knew from the information in our hostel that the day we went to Akihabara, there was going to be this event with a bunch of maids. This event was called Uchimizu – it is a summer tradition to “spread water on the ground to make it cool”.

[nggallery id=23]

Here’s an album with all the maids from the Uchimizu event.

Bandai opened up a Gundam Cafe right outside the Akihabara station.

It’s a cool place to hang out, drink coffee and reminisce about classic Gundam episodes that we saw as a kid.

However, the food in this place is garbage (except for the fact that they make a Haro face on your coffee).

A few buildings that had a lot of anime related stuff in them – Labi and Yellow Submarine.

In fact, there were so many buildings, it was hard to keep track.

This is the typical entrance to electric town.

On weekdays, they hire maids to hand out flyers.

I thought this building was very cool. It looked like a storage box.

Kotobukiya had a bunch of the latest Anime stuff you can find. It’s also very pricey.

This is Choi Dori, it’s got a bunch more buildings. On Sundays, they closed off the whole street for pedestrians.

This is the Don Quijote (Donki) building in Akihabara. It’s like a discount/souvenir store. On the top floor, they have museum for the AKB48 – an all female pop band with 48 members (lol!)

Stuff they sold at Donki.

We saw more maids handing out flyers. This type of advertisement only happens on weekdays. They disappear on weekends.

Even KFC is using One Piece as advertisement. One Piece is possibly the biggest Anime in Japan history. One night, we were sleepless at the hostel. We decided to turn on the TV and there was actually a show that was like jeopardy – the catch was the questions were all related to One Piece and the guests were some of the biggest celebrities in Japan. They actually knows their anime.

Pachinko at Akiba.

Yellow Submarine is a popular place because it’s next to the subway. There are a bunch of life-size figures inside the building.

A studio outside of the Akiba subway.

The famous Akihabara Subway Station.

How to choose the right wedding planner: hiring a wedding planner can help reduce stress and take the grueling planning out of one’s wedding journey. A professional planner helps you maintain your sanity by assisting with all aspects of the event, such as creating a budget, choosing ceremony and reception venues and incorporating a theme or design scheme.

Clear Agenda: A planner should be able to send you a projected timeline and expected deliverables. This should detail out your months of planning as well as detail out the services you can expect and be ready for. In addition, a planner should be communicative and express what they can handle on your behalf and what they cannot, so your expectations can be met.

Investment: Keep in mind that wedding planners charge for their services. Some wedding planners charge a flat rate but will charge additional costs for items that are not spelled out in the contract or agreement. You want to be sure that you and the wedding planner agree on what their job is and have all of your expectations down in writing. On the other hand, some wedding planners will charge by the hour. If additional hours are needed on the day of the wedding, it will be added on to the total cost.

Don’t lose your control: Remember, unless you’ve instructed them otherwise, the wedding planner’s job is to guide you through every step of the process, not to completely take over. Make sure the planner you choose is willing to let you have as much say as you want to ensure that your celebration is unique to you.
